The current accreditation term for SRHS expires in June 2009. SRHS has spent the last year in a self-study process called Focus on Learning. Basic concepts addressed in this process focus upon student success in meeting Expected Schoolwide Learning Results (ESLRs) and academic standards (what all students should know and be able to do). Focus on Learning is an on-going process that examines how SRHS students are achieving and whether the school is doing everything possible to support high achievement for all students.
A comprehensive report, detailing our findings, has been developed. For this report we have examined how the school is organized for student success; the curriculum (what we teach); our instruction (how we teach); assessment (how we measure student achievement); and school culture and support for student personal and academic growth. The result of this Focus on Learning process is the development of an action plan that will guide us in the continuing improvement of student achievement.
A seven-person team, the visiting committee, visited SRHS during the week of February 22nd. During this four-day visit the team met with school staff, students, parents and district personnel to validate the findings in our report. This team published their findings (see attached) and filed their report with the Accrediting Commission for Schools who in turn will grant SRHS a term of accreditation later this spring.
